Overview of Features

Faculty Members use MedFAD to:

Select a resident for precepting based on the number of entries and date of last entry for each resident.

Increase educational continuity by reviewing resident learning goals and formative feedback provided by other faculty members.

Record Field Notes - formative feedback in narrative descriptions of resident performance relative to the trainee’s current progress rating for each ACGME competency.

Contextualize formative feedback based on observation variables including date encounter type, patient lifecycle stage, service location, precepting format and preceptor.


Medical Residents use MedFAD to:

Record personal learning goals and share their perception of progress towards realizing these goals with faculty members.

Review educational feedback from earlier preceptor encounters to enhance educational continuity.

CCC members use MedFAD to:

Review a trainee's performance dashboard that visually integrates feedback from many Field Notes.

Query and sort Field Notes by formative category, competency, program year, preceptor, clinical location, life cycle, encounter type, and date range .

Update the progress level for each trainee .


Program Directors use MedFAD to:

Integrate leading practices in medical education.

Conduct fact-based assessment of faculty-resident interaction by analyzing data collected across all residents and program years.
