Larry Mauksch

Larry Mauksch

Larry Mauksch, M.Ed has spent the last 30 years as a health care educator and clinician (Family Therapist) teaching medical students, residents, community physicians, nurses, and mental health professionals. He is a nationally known consultant to health care organizations and academic institutions Mr. Mauksch's areas of research include exploring educational methods that build competency in trainees, teachers, and teams with a focus on communication, efficiency and the integration of behavioral health and medical care.

Larry has been a member of the behavioral science faculty in the Department of Family Medicine, University of Washington since 1985. He developed the Patient Centered Observation Form (PCOF) to help trainees learn the skills, concepts, and language of medical communication and time management. He is a member of the board, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), is chair of the STFM program committee. Between 2011 and 2012 he served on the Council of Academic Family Medicine Competency Measurement Task Force as the lead for faculty development. He is the co-editor of Families, Systems and Health: The Journal of Collaborative Family Health Care and is the past chair of the Collaborative Family Health Care Association.
